Off the needles - The Gimmick

This fantastic pattern is from Jane Waller's Knitting Fashions of the 1940s.
The Gimmick is a fantastically versatile sleeveless pullover with a long neck that can be worn several different ways.

I modified the original pattern to have a slightly shorter neck, to reduce bulk and added in a diamond shaped 1:1 rib pannel at the waist on each side to add shaping.

Super cute!

This is little Harry Hotham modelling his new jacket, knitted by moi. Isn't he gorgeous?
Welcome to the world Harry!

On the needles - simple cardi

My first attempt at copying a pattern from a picture. Thankfully it's a simple cardi! It's knitting up quickly, hoping to get the sleeves done this weekend.

Tri-petal flower

I've had different incarnations of this plant for years and years - the cuttings grow really easily - but I've never noticed it flower before. Gorgeous.

This weekend I've mostly been...studying

I'm studying for a book-keeping qualification, as well as a City & Guilds in Knitting (or Knitty & Guilds as a girl friend called it) and whilst it would be far too boring to post the results of my book-keeping labour, but here are some of my knitting samples - increase, decrease and wibbly wobbly zigzag patterns.

oh and a couple of pics taken at the House of Marbles near Bovey Tracey back in March. Look at those bad boys! Love the designs

Inspiring ironwork

I was at the V&A last weekend for a Knitty & Guilds meeting. We wandered through the Ironwork gallery which was incredibly inspiring. Couldn't stop thinking about knitted cables...
